- Abraham never tithed on his own personal property or livestock.
- Jacob wouldn’t tithe until God blessed him first.
- Only Levite priests could collect tithes, and there are no Levite priests today.
- Only food products from the land were tithable.
- Money was never a tithable commodity.
- Christian converts were never asked to tithe anything to the Church.
- Tithing in the Church first appears centuries after completion of the Bible.
We will now go through all the Scriptural references in the Bible on tithe, tithes, and tithing:
[1] Gen. 14:20, "And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he [Abram] gave him [Melchizedek king of Salem, the priest of the most high God, Ver. 18] TITHES of all [all the goods of war, Ver. 16]."We read again of this same event in the book of Hebrews:
[2] Heb. 7:1-10,
Christian scholars claim that Abraham’s tithing of the spoils of war predated the Law of Moses, and therefore even if the Law of Moses is done away with, tithing is still binding on Christians because Abraham predated the Law of Moses. Is this true?
And Christendom teaches that this Scripture is the first proof from the Word of God that Christians are to tithe ten percent of their salaries to the church. But what have we really learned from these Scriptures?

The event in Hebrews refers to Abraham's encounter and does not change anything at all for Christians. We are NOT under the LAW of tithing...we are FREE to give.
ReplyDeleteCircumcision was a COMMAND to Abraham before the Law...and is not valid today either. This also applies to 'Sabbaths'...ie Gen 2:1. Abraham also sacrificed on altars....this is also not necessary.
But somehow 'tithing' is continued. OK ... So let us then tithe as Abraham tithed!
i.e. AFTER we are blessed and have become very rich.
i.e. ONCE only in our lives
i.e. ONLY on SPOILS that never belonged to us
i.e. GIVE it...(ie freely)...and NOT PAY it (ie under a command of the LAW)
Abraham was NOT cursed when he didn't tithe on his own possessions
Abraham was NOT POOR
Abraham was NOT UNDER COMPULSION
Abraham did NOT 'tithe in faith'....he HAD the goods in his possession before he gave
Melchizedek did not DEMAND the tithe of spoils ... Abraham FREELY gave it...AFTER he was blessed.
Why is this not taught today???
Because preachers are teaching the tithe 'OF THE LAW' ...because that way they can demand and extort by threat of a curse ...the money they COVET.
